Providing the 'chill factor' for Alabama food distributor
The challenge to the customer
Contingency planning and Aggreko
ingenuity paid off for an Alabama-based grocery distribution center
following a main refrigeration failure. The distribution center was
facing at least three weeks of downtime for a space holding more
than $8 million of refrigerated products.
“The priorities were to resume
normal operations as quickly and cost-effectively as possible,”
said the director of risk management for the facility.
Aggreko's solution
Aggreko’s emergency response
capabilities were put to the test when asked to provide temporary
cooling capabilities for more than 240,000 sq.ft (22,300 sq.m) of
the refrigerated warehouse.
The benefits to the customer
From the first contact on a Sunday
afternoon, design and analysis of logistical possibilities occurred
within 24 hours, as well as mobilisation of equipment to replace
more than 1,300 tons of cooling capacity. Aggreko's temporary
cooling system adequately and easily provided cooling for five
different temperature zones ranging from 31° to 50°F (-0.6–10°C),
and 28,000 to 81,000 sq.-ft (2,600–7,525 sq.m) areas.
“This was a flawless total turnkey
operation,” said the Risk Management Director. “Aggreko’s planning
and execution allowed my team to concentrate on our business
continuation and recovery.”
